Wicked Cafe – Vancouver

There really only are two places in Vancouver for truly great coffee: 49th Parallel Roasters and Wicked Cafe.

The people here really love coffee. They import Intelligentsia coffee (often referred to as the best coffee in the U.S.) from Chicago and they’ll either pull you one of the best ristrettos in the city, or sell you a bag of Intelligentsia’s Black Cat beans.

It’s on the corner of 7th Avenue and Hemlock, an often sunny corner, which while it doesn’t have a great view, at least has a nice patio on this tree-lined residential street that gives the place a really nice neighborhood cafe feel. If I lived closer, I would be here to study, read for pleasure, or just watch the world go by.

I haven’t tried the food, but who cares? The coffee alone is worth the trip, the staff are friendly (and really know their coffee), and it’s a great place to sit and think about buying that espresso machine you’ve always wanted…
